As you all know I recently, and regretably, spent a lot of money to have the dealer put a new clutch and flywheel on my car. I presented my car to the dealer stating that from 2nd to 3rd was never smooth and would almost always grind. Well a flywheel, clutch, $2200, and a month later its no better. I have also noticed that my reverse lights no longer work AT ALL!!! should i go back to LIA and complain or just try to figure out whats going by other means?

well i did drive it that one time right after you had the work done, and crunched the gear like you say happens. i thought you had a brandy new transmission installed not too long ago? The clutch is a wear item and not subject to any warranty. I would bring it back and complain, but i dont know if any good would come of it

thanks scott.. even you drove it so ya know what im talking about. I didnt get a brand new one put in but fathers and soons took it apart and looked at it less than 6 months prior and everything was find except for the 5th gear synchro. I went there complaining about third gear too and they fixed that under warrranty. Im just concerned that if it is the sychro that is causing these problems for third then wouldnt that burn out the clutch and flywheel? In which case it wouldnt have been a wear and tear issue and I am out 2k!

nah i got mine from lia in enfield in the beginning of 2006. I hope its not the same one. that would be my luck if fathers and sons sold the car to lia and i go and buy the car that got blown up on a test drive.

that would not happen lia and F&S basically hate each other and dotn deal with one another the only way we could have ended up with it is if F&S sent it back to vw and lia bought it from there

So i got the depressing news @ around 9am this morning that even tho I just bought that flywheel and clutch for mad money... according to LIA VW, in order to fix the problem I had originally had complained about a month ago I would need to get a whole new transmission (not covered under warranty)!!!!! WTF and oh yeah and afterwards the fucker has the nerve to tell me that my reverse lights (which havent been working since the last time i left it at Lia) dont work because of a broken tab that was going to cost my 60$ to replace. For Christ Sakes.
